Between 900 and 1471 m of altitude, and being spread out over more than 15 km2, the plateau of Coulmes offers a space of dream for the hikers - by foot, in snowshoes or with ski - and the cross-country skiiers. Located at the south and the east of the cirque of Railletière, you reach the plateau, starting from the gite, through the "pas du pré coquet" (1209 m).
From there, a succession of meadows and woods of beeches and pines extends as far as the eye can see. The domanial forest of Coulmes, virgin of any dwelling, breathes calm and serenity, and invites you to ressourcement.
The gîte is also ideally located to make you discover the cirque of Railletière. Culminating to 1471 m, the peak overhangs meadows and forests. It is indeed a peculiar geological formation originating from the collapse of the vast anticlinal of Coulmes. For more information on the geology of the place, you can consult the site geol-alp. That you are a geologist or simple tourist, the cirque is a place of harmony and protection if one believes the teaching of Feng Shui.
The country of Vinay, it is the country of nut (and not a country of nuts!). On the western edge of Vercors, it extends its fields of walnut trees in the wide valley.
